Subsistence support for 52 Sisters of the Holy Family in Ukraine for 2022: Sisters with families hiding underground during the alarm siren outside.
Sister Euphrosyne Goida, Abbess General of the Holy Family in Ukraine writes about the current situation:
«Ukraine is at war. Today the situation is very complicated and alarming. Our soldiers heroically repel the attacks of the Russian army, defending our state. To date, Ukraine has come under unexpected missile fire in all regions of the country, causing a severe economic and humanitarian crisis. The population, alarmed by this situation, is trying to find a safe place to stay. Many people are leaving their homes and going abroad in search of protection. Due to the imposition of martial law, small businesses (these are ordinary grocery stores, manufactured goods) have stopped working, and people are also deprived of the opportunity to work and earn a living. Currently, there are only large chains of grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies. There is an insane influx of people who buy almost everything in a row, which creates a shortage of goods and long queues.
This situation is exacerbated by the large influx of refugees from the eastern, southern, northern and central regions of Ukraine. We were forced to accept some internally displaced persons in our monastery in Goszew, as they are mothers with children in need of protection. Obviously, this will in turn cause great financial costs for us, but we could not leave these people in trouble. Below I attach a photo.
Our sisters mostly earned their living by catechesis in parishes that are currently open and continue to pray for peace and an end to the war, but have become virtually empty and devoid of donations from the faithful. Accordingly, our sisters lost the opportunity to earn a living.»
