Feast of the Timkat or Baptism of the Lord in Lalibela (Ethiopia).
An Ethiopian girl and her mother are illuminated by the light inside the tunnel between the temple of Biet Lehen – House of Holy Bread – and the temple of Biet Amanuel – House of Emmanuel – in Lalibela (Amhara, Ethiopia). Lalibela, with its temples carved instone, has been considered a holy place, the new Jerusalem, for Orthodox Christians since the 13th Century.
