Father Gersaín Paz, parish priest of Santa Marta parish, during the evening Mass in ‘Llano verde’ neighborhood, southeast of Cali. This neighborhood consists of 4,700 government housing units, handed over in 2013 to victims of drug trafficking, former FARC combatants, displaced people, Indigenous people, Afro-Colombians, and those living in extreme poverty. The houses, each no larger than 48 square meters, include a living-dining room, kitchen, patio, and two bedrooms, accommodating families of up to 12 people. The area faces severe issues with drug addiction and prostitution, and there are frequent clashes between the police and armed groups.
